|Today at approximately 9:00 am EMS, EHS, FHS, RCE and all administrative buildings are in LOCKOUT. Students and staff are in the buildings and classes are being conducted as normal. The buildings are locked, perimeters are secure. SHE is in heightened alert. Elizabeth Police is looking for a man in the area that may be armed. Please do not call, telephone lines and cell towers are needed for emergency calls. Please do not drive to the school or administrative buildings, additional traffic will interfere with safety procedures and duties of law enforcement. |
Update 12:25 pm. The Elizabeth Police Department and the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office are actively looking for the man who may be harmful to himself. Information from law enforcement indicated that there were no threats made against individuals or institutions. They are hopeful to have the situation resolved within the next hour or two. SHE remains in heightened alert. All other schools and administration buildings remain in lockout.
Update: 2:00pm The lockout has been lifted for Elizabeth Schools, including Legacy Academy. Heightened alert at Singing Hills Elementary has also been lifted. Bus routes will run as normal. After school and evening activities remain on schedule as planned unless notified otherwise. There will be increased police presence around the school throughout the afternoon.
